The Flip Book

As a kid, I loved making flip books. They were all I did in art class, whenever I had the chance. I worked really hard on one particular flip book that was around 50 pages long, I guess. It had a simple stick figure that would walk onto the page, wave at me, and just simply walk off. I looked at it dozens of times on the day that I made it, but eventually I got bored. I mean, once it was finished, t just wasn’t something that can keep someone entertained for long. I tossed it under my bed and never gave it a second thought.
A few months later, I was cleaning up my room and swept the stack of paper out from under the corner of my bed. I couldn’t quite remember what it was. I flipped through it once more, as I was flipping, I noticed that the pages hadn’t worn out at all. I flipped through again. The little stick man walked onto the page, but this time he didn’t walk off (Urban legends Online, 2012, p. n.d). Instead, a second stick man walked on with something in his hand.
He walked up to the first stick man and whacked the poor fellow on the head (Urban legends Online, 2012, p. n.d) The first stick man fell and the second stick man swung to hit the first stick man again. And again. And again. Blood ran from the first stick man’s jagged body. It looked like nothing more than a smeared pencil stain. The killer stick man proceeded to bend down and tear apart the first stick man’s body, limb by thin limb. He bent each line into letters and set them up upon the page to form a single word (Urban legends Online, 2012, p. n.d). Then grabbed the base of his own round head and tore it off, followed by his legs, and then one of his own arms. His zig-zagged body parts formed a second word. What I read made me burn the book. YOU’RE NEXT!!

Everyone has played with the flipbook at least once in their lifetime where the draw a different cartoon on each page and flip back with your fingers to make a little movie. But this makes us hate the flipbook. Though not that scary, it makes us never want to come in contact with this being again, even if it is just a drawing.

Bride-N-Seek

A bride and a groom were both very young, around 16, but decided to get married anyway, as was the way in those days. It was a huge, elaborate wedding and the reception was held at an old mansion, an heirloom of the family, of sorts (Urban legends online, 2012, p. n.d). After most people had left and all were drunk of wedding champagne, the bride whined she was getting bored. When asked what she'd like to do, she grinned and said she always loved a good game of hide-and-seek. Though reluctant to play such a childish game, all agreed and the groom was "it.”

It took only about 30 minutes for all to be found... all but the bride, that is. Everyone began searching the entire house, but no one found her. The groom, thinking maybe she had second out a missing persons report but no luck. Eventually he moved on with his life. thoughts about the marriage, grew angry and sent everyone home. After two or three days, he put

After the girl's father died, the mansion was being cleaned, the family taking what they would before the auction came around. The mother of the long-gone bride was up in the storage attic, cleaning out the old clothes and junk when she saw an old trunk with a lock on it. After breaking the lock, she peered inside... and began to scream. (Urban legends online, 2012, p. n.d). All ran upstairs to see what was happening. Inside the trunk was the bride, dead after the lid fell on her head and crushed part of her skull... though she was still grinning at her little game of hide-and-seek.

This tale makes us shiver because it invokes our fear of being buried alive and dying inch by inch in an enclosed, dark space. In the tale, the horror is heightened by the innocence of the victim and the happiness of the day being transformed into unspeakable tragedy. The bright promise of what should have marked the beginning of the happiest period in her life dies a long lonely death along with the bride in a child’s game gone horribly wrong.

The Suicide Drawing

The story is this, in Japan shortly before a teenage girl committed suicide; she drew this picture, scanned it and posted it online. In Korea this story broke out and it spread like wildfire (Quizazz, 2011, p. n.d). There are various posts around in Korean forums that say that the viewer gets drawn to the girls blue eyes, they say they can detect a hint of wraith and sadness within the eyes. Maybe the girl had died with so much sadness and anger that her spirit haunts the image, or maybe the image provokes sadness, similar to the song ‘Gloomy Sunday’.

According to Quizazz (2011) in the article Urban legends: Regional and Cultural, they say the freaky bit is this, they say it is hard for a person to stare into the girls eyes for longer than 5 minutes, and there are reports that some people have taken their own lives after doing so (p. n.d). People say the picture changes, as you view it there is a hint of a growing taunting smirk appearing on the girl’s lips or a dark ring that grows around the girl or her eyes.
I heard Japanese movies are the scariest kinds of scary movies out there. I hate scary movies for the fear it causes but, I like them for the thrill at the ‘jump’ or ‘pop-up’ scene. This is another one of those types of scary stories I love and hate at the same time, and no matter how hard I try, I can’t stare into her eyes for more than five minutes.

The Tails Doll

After Joe got home from work he thought he would buy a game for his son. He was into the Mario, Sonic, and Donkey Kong things so he got him a game he didn’t think he's ever played yet. It was Sonic R. It was a racing game. Little Steven was so excited he started to play right away. A couple of days passed and he told his father he was almost done with the game. He felt good for his son, patted his head, and asked how it was. He loved it very much and said he just finished the game. At night he went into his room, very quietly turned the volume down on the TV, and was ready to play some Sonic R. Knowing his son already beat the game; he decided to play it again through watching him from earlier. He noticed that know you could play as "Tails Doll." Joe thought it was pretty fun until he tagged the tails doll up with Sonic...Everything was all calm at first...the screen shut off along with the game system so he let things be and went to bed. (Urban legends online, 2012, P. N.D)
According to Urban legends online (2012), at around 2:00 AM he started hearing thumps on his door. Keeping it shut and knowing his son could get the game himself he just said, "Stop, go back to bed." The thumping kept happening. He kind of started freaking out. The word "Tails" kept popping up in his mind. He started to slowly open the door. And heard these very faint words he will never forget again..."You are coming with me... forever." It was a doll. An evil blood-covered possessed little doll. It was from the game. It had to be. It looked just like it. It didn’t leave anything behind; the tails doll had eaten Joe and only left his fingers to use as toothpicks to remove extra meat. But the tails doll wasn’t done, it waited back in the game for the little boy to play it, and when he did, the tails doll ripped Steven apart limb from limb. By the time police arrive because of the neighbors distress call, nothing was left of the family, all was gone except the game console, with blood on the TV.
I remember when I used to love playing sonic games such as, the original sonic or the recent one “Sonic Unleashed” they were amazing games to play. But after I read this story, I stopped because I was afraid that this was going to happen to me. Although, it would be fun to try it out…

Pennsylvania loch ness monster

Central Pennsylvania is all excited about Raystown Ray. Not only are testimonies being recorded from eye witness's but as you can see some of these witness's have actually caught this strange creature on photos, the first known photo taken was in 2006. The photo's make this creature look small but it's said that it's actually 50 to 60 feet long.
It's gotten so popular that a California-based production company has heard about the sea creature and is coming to Raystown Lake with a crew of 10 on April 27th and 28th, 2010, to send deep sea divers into the lake to find evidence of Raystown Ray. They also plan on interviewing eye witnesses that believe they have seen the creature and gather any photos and videos that will help the investigation. "n.d"
People think that this animal is from the paleolithic age and survived through out the ice age. Then after the ice age it found this lake and made it its new home.

The Clown Statue

One night a married couple wanted a night to themselves so they went out for dinner. They hired a babysitter that a friend of theirs had suggested. (Tamra S., 2004, P. N.D). Once the babysitter arrives the father desires that after she puts their children to sleep that she goes into their bedroom and watch TV since they didn’t want things knocked over and broken on their recent move to their new house. Soon after, the parents left and she puts the kids to sleep. She does as she is told and goes to the bedroom to watch TV, or at least she tried to. She was too creeped out by the clown statue that’s next to the TV to focus. Eventually, she can’t take it anymore and calls the father. "Hey, sorry to bother you but do you think it would be okay if I covered the clown statue. It is really freaking me out." The father's shocked response was, "Grab the kids and get out of the house now. Go to the neighbors. We will be there soon." (Zaiden Jace, 2010, P. N.D) "What? Why?" "Please just go." She agreed and gathered the kids. They did as the father wanted and waited for a few minutes before the police arrived with the parents. They explained to her that they didn’t own a clown statue. The children had talked about a clown watching them sleep but they thought they were just having bad dreams. (Zaiden Jace, 2010, P. N.D). The police investigate the house and they find the clown who was really a mass murderer, who had been living in their house for a while. Since the house was so big, he was able to sneak around without getting noticed. The "clown" had been in the parent's room and couldn't leave without the babysitter seeing so he froze and pretended to be a statue. The personal experience on this story would have to relate to when I was younger, I was taken to a circus and I noticed how some people had a fear of clowns called coulrophobia and I wondered why all these years since clowns were goofy and funny. Recently, my friend told me he was scared of clowns and I researched why this occurs in people and I came across this story. Though I’m not afraid of clowns, I see why most people are.
